Some say that you have to chase your goals, others that you have to let them come to you.

That is an interesting question, and i do believe that it's hard or impossible to write an entirely true answer.
First of all, there is the point of view factor, this means that everyone has their own opinion, and they are all true, none lies, unless of course, if someone writes something they do not believe is true.
You will likely achieve some of your goals in life, while you will not achieve others.
However, you really DO need to figure out what YOUR goals are. Not what your friends suggested, not what everyone thinks is best for you.
The problem with this is, how do we know what we truly want? All we have are our memories, people telling us what to do, people telling us what is good, what is bad...
You need to go as far back as you can in your life and remember what you once truly wanted to achieve but thought was impossible for you, because either you're not good enough or you just don't have the ability, and concentrate on those things, why?
Because those are the things that YOU truly want.
By now(assuming you're a grown up person in the sense that you think more about things and realize the realities of world a bit better than before) you should probably understand that you can achieve those things, no matter how incredible or impossible they sound.
Although, you do have to set them as your goals, and you might have to change your whole life to gain them. Just think, though, because if you're not prepared to go through anything to become what you've always wanted to be, then it's not truly what you want... so you shouldn't bother wishing.
Do you have to work to achieve your goals? Sometimes yes, sometimes not. How come? Well, sometimes in life we achieve our goals without knowing it, because we haven't really given enough thought about it, and only later we realize that we have achieved a goal or two that we once had, and... without realizing that we might even lose what we've once achieved.
Not all of our goals are completely self-related, that's why we don't have to work for some of our goals.
"I wish to meet an incredibly good looking, intelligent girl today on my way to work" How can we actually work to achieve this goal? I don't think we can do much about it... only 1/2 is up to us, the other half is up to what people like to call "destiny" or "luck" or "faith" or... i don't know. We only have to be ourselves to achieve this goal, so... that being considered it's a goal that will either come true or not, but not because we actually put work into it.
Most other goals, such as practical achievements and ANYTHING completely self related(i wish to be stronger, faster, i want to know more about this, that....) we actually have to work for, those goals will never come to us, of course.

Good article, and here is my opinion. All goals can be reached with just two things; those are love and money. We all want to be loved and you receive it by giving it. Learn to love and it will come back to you.
We all want material things, some we need and some we want, and that requires money. Money usually doesn't come to you. Normally, you have to earn it or borrow it. If you want to know how important it is, try to borrow some.
Anyway, remember love is most important. Love God, family, and friends. Be honest, think about what you need and want. Look for opportunities to achieve goals. Sometimes they just happen and sometimes you have to make them happen.
You may want to try this; each day make a to-do list, including three things you have to do, three things you want to do, and three things that would help you in the future.
Have a wonderful life.
