Audacity Download

Audacity is a free audio editing software, somewhat similar to the commercial Sony Sound Forge. It works on multiple platforms(systems) such as Windows, Linux, etc.

What can you do with Audacity?

There are a lot of features available in Audacity, and it's functionality can be extended with plugins. VST plugins can be added, meaning that virtually thousands of audio editing effects and functions can be added through these.

This program enables you to record and edit audio. It can also be used for converting audio to another format. Quite useful for musicians, but almost anyone can sometimes find some use for an audio editor.

What are VST plug-ins and where can they be found?

VST or Steinberg's Virtual Studio Technology is a technology for integrating effects, synthesizers and recording plug-ins into VST Hosts, which are required to run them and are usually audio editors or simple recording programs.

Audacity is one such Audio Editor which supports VST plug-ins. If you're looking for a live recording software supporting VST plug-ins, then try Cantabile.
