As the name suggests, Driving Speed Pro is a computer racing game by wheelspinstudios. It is a newer, commercial version of the freeware game Driving Speed 2. Driving Speed Pro has more features, playing modes, tracks, cars and better looking graphics than the freeware version. although the game does require a better performance computer.
Game Modes
- Quick Race - is the fastest way to start a race. You can select your car, track, the number of AI opponents and their difficulty(easy, normal or hard). You can also turn off the opponents in case you wish to race alone, set new records, which you can later on upload to compare with other players.
- Career Mode - apart from setting records, this is one of the most fun modes. You get a starting amount of virtual money points to buy a car within the first class, and through racing you get more credits to advance in your career and buy new, faster and better cars. Tip: Unless you like racing a damaged car, don't forget to repair your car in between races.
- Multiplayer - is the mode in which you can play against either players, either through the LAN(local network) or WAN.
Career Mode Details
Since this is one of the most complex modes in this game, i have decided to write a little bit more about it.
Once you enter the career mode, you are able to purchase a car. You get a starting amount of virtual money(credits) which only enable you to buy the lowest class cars for the start. After finishing races, your car will remain damaged, unless you repair the car. There are also upgrades which are available for your car. Other than that, you can Test Drive any car that you might have.
Races(Race Events) are mostly split into car categories. From the starting categories, to the fastest cars in the game, you will need a car of the matching category in order to race, if you don't have one, the game will offer you cars in the suiting category available for purchase.
The only thing that remains is to start your career and become the best driver.

Personal Impressions
Comparing to the freeware version, Driving Speed 2, this game has a much more realistic feel to it, car sounds, car behavior, even the design of cars and trucks is much better. I suggest playing this game with a joypad or a steering wheel for an even greater car racing feeling.
The career mode offers you something that can keep you occupied for a while. Once finished, you should be prepared to set some great track records!
You will, however, need a newer high performance computer in order to fully enjoy this game.
