Short Overview:

Combat Arms is a modern FPS action game hosted by Nexon for the US and NexonEU for European players. The game is completely free to download, play - and improve your character, however, certain items can only be bought with premium points which can be purchased for money, as well as some normally high level items are available for any level if you use premium points to purchase such items.

This game offers a customizable character, along with modifiable weapons to enhance your power. It has a variety of great maps, easy to learn gameplay along with various game modes, including two cooperative missions.

There is a decent atmosphere along with quite acceptable graphics, which will run on most of the modern computers(except for most netbooks and some notebooks).

Every character is equipped with standard(default) weapons which never expire, but is able to purchase additional weapons and gear that does expire, and also permanent weapons - with premium points. The default - permanent equipement is consisted of: M16A3 Assault Rifle, M9 Knife, M67 Frag Grenade, M92FS Pistol, a Standard Packpack(+1 additional weapon slot) and a Black Cap which is a visual only item.

Once you have created your character, you should finish the game tutorial in order to ensure receiving the starter gear pack, which will give you an advancement in your fire power and defence for a short period of time. You will receive a Heavy West, Famas Assault Rifle, M24 Sniper Rifle, as well as an improved pistol - M1911 MEU.

Community is a little problematic in Combat Arms, as there is a lot of swearing used by players, people often insult each other for things such as them losing in a battle. 

Hacks are often used in Combat Arms by many players with the sole purpose of getting unfair advantages in order to defeat other players. These hacks are split into two groups:

1. Program hacks which usually inject functions from a DLL into the Combat Arms client in order to provide abilities such as seeing through walls, flying, moving through walls, automatic aiming, etc.

2. Mods are alterations of the game's packed files in order to gain unfair advantages, usually to increase the fire rate of weapons as well as to see other players through walls. A lot of Combat Arms players believe that modding is allowed by Nexon, even though it is not, and they can get banned for using them, just the same as with program hacks.

If you see a cheater in Combat Arms, there are report functions installed which you can activate by pressing ESC once in game and finding the report button. There are also video recording options with which you can record a hacker's behaviour, upload it to Youtube and give a link to the Nexon Game Masters(try the forums or submit a support ticket) which might help get the cheater banned faster.

Game play is quite simple, even though there are a few different styles to learn. And with so many different weapons, you should try to find the one that suits you best and practice playing with it. Advices for the best weapon are useless, as every player has a "best weapon" that goes along with the player's style. Some players find sniper rifles perfectly suiting - and some cheaters too because snipers are usually a one-shot kill, so people don't always notice that the shot was auto-aimed by a cheat. Machine guns are suitable for shooting at masses, but due to their high recoil they are also good for taking out a single enemy if the enemy is positioned near you, because no matter where you shoot, a bullet will likely reach the enemy. However, if you're using a machine gun from distance, you will likely not get any kills. Pistols have recently been made usable in Combat Arms, as there was a glitch which made them shoot much slower than they should, now, you can easily take out enemies at close range with a pistol, even if they are using an assault rifle.

Short Range Weapons are usually used for close quarter combat and players usually move a lot(jumping included) while firing to make it harder for the enemy to hit them, while relying on the recoil of their weapon to hit the opponent.

Rocket Launchers such as LAW and RPG-7 are made much weaker and slower in Combat Arms than it is possible in reality. If your rocket hits near an enemy, he will only get damaged for about 50-70% health. It usually takes two rockets to kill an enemy, and the time it takes you to fire them is much longer than the enemy will need to shoot you with any kind of rifle. I suggest Rocket Launchers for only two situations:

1. When near a lot of opponents in a massive battle, shoot a rocket so that it will damage most of them, and some of them might already be damaged so you could end up getting multiple kills.
2. When waiting for an opponent to come out from a door, plant 3 mines in front of the door, then step back enough(about 70 meters or so) and aim your rocket launcher at the mines, as soon as you see the opponent coming out or hear him/her near the mines, shoot your rocket at the mines, not at the opponent. This will 100% surely get a kill as the mines have a huge blast range and 3 mines make much more damage than the enemy can survive, plus the damage of your rocket. I have used this method effectively numerous times.

Using shotguns is usually hard, but possible. You should try to get close to the enemy and get precise hits, as the further you are when hitting the enemy, the less damage you will make with a shotgun. The perfect situation for a shotgun is for you to hide behind a wall, listen to the enemies footsteps, and then, suddenly show up and shoot him in the face. This should result in a one shot kill if done precisely. The same tactic can be used when attacking with a melee weapon, or even a pistol.

There are a few kinds of hacks used in Combat Arms, some of which i have already mentioned. This means that in time you will get familiar with the way hack users behave and that will make it easier for you to spot hackers. Aside from them going through walls, flying, etc. some hack users try to hide that they are cheating by only using features which enable them to see your location behind the walls, and if you accuse them of cheating, they will usually say that they have heard for footsteps or something like that, which is impossible at higher distances.

Be suspicious:

If you see someone always sneaking up on you, no matter which way you take, that person is most likely using a cheat. Try to hide somewhere and if the person shoots you as soon as you get out from your cover, that also most likely means that he was cheating, so he was waiting outside of your cover so that you would think that he accidentally got near your cover, and was not using a cheat. Try to use various covers on the map and if the same situation repeats 2 or more times, most likely the person is cheating.

Cheaters usually have a specific behaviour in chat, no matter what level they are(low or high), if you kill them, they will usually type something like "OMG" or "HACKER!" because they think that it's impossible for someone to kill them, because they cheat. If they accuse you of using a hack and you're not, it's most likely that they are.

I used to play a lot of 2v2 rooms, and in such small rooms it is quite easy to spot a hacker both by strange efficiency and by some other factors. For example, the hacker will often try to vote kick the other person in his team, claiming that the other person is a hacker. If someone joins the game in the middle of it, and tries to kick the other player immediately, vote no, because the person who requested the vote is most likely cheating, and not the other. This also buys the hacker time, because you can't kick him if there aren't 4 players in the room, and you can't kick him right away, because there is an undergoing vote for another player. I suggest that you record a video of this person for later reporting.

System Requirements:

This game uses an extended version of the No One Lives Forever 2's engine, which means that the game should not have high requirements, but it unfortunately does have much higher requirements, but is still within the lower-mid class for the computers of today.
